Terra Invicta
An extraterrestrial probe nearing Earth marks the start of an unforeseen crisis. In the remote, icy expanse of the Kuiper Belt, an alien force covertly mines a dwarf planet, gearing up for an invasion. As Earth's nations fail to present a united front, a network of like-minded political, military, and scientific leaders across the globe form secret alliances to strategize a response. Amidst the uncertainty of the aliens' intentions, various factions driven by hope, fear, or greed emerge.
You will take command of one of these factions:
The Resistance, aiming to unite the world's nations for a coordinated defense.
Humanity First, committed to annihilating the aliens and their sympathizers.
The Servants, who idolize the aliens as saviors from global woes.
The Protectorate, promoting negotiation as the only way to avoid extinction.
The Academy, seeing the aliens as potential partners in forming an interstellar alliance.
The Initiative, looking to capitalize on the ensuing chaos.
Project Exodus, focused on constructing a massive starship to escape the Solar System.
Story
Created by the minds behind Long War, Terra Invicta serves as a bridge from Earth-based civilizations to the expansive interstellar empires of other space strategy games. Command Earth's nations and pioneer the colonization of the Solar System, navigating a strategic map of over 300 constantly moving celestial bodies including asteroids, moons, and planets.
As the leader of a clandestine organization, you compete against other factions for control points across Earth, representing military, economic, and political dominance. The geopolitical landscape is your playground—unite or divide nations to advance your agenda, and wield your influence to instigate proxy wars against rival factions. Your council of politicians, scientists, and operatives grows stronger as you gain sway over key organizations like intelligence agencies or major corporations.
Gameplay
Terra Invicta features a global research system fostering both competition and collaboration. While shared scientific progress unlocks private engineering endeavors, focusing solely on personal projects may weaken Earth's overall defense and diminish your influence over the global research trajectory.
Your rivals include six other human factions, but alien forces also pose a significant threat. Throughout the game, illustrated events challenge you with critical decisions as you probe the increasing alien presence on Earth. The importance of space launch facilities escalates as your conflict extends into space, where you vie for resources, construct bases, and engage in tactical combat throughout the Solar System. Space station placements—from deep space refueling points to research and construction hubs near Earth—play a strategic role. Ship design in Terra Invicta, inspired by speculative science and hard science fiction, allows you to craft vessels with a mix of weaponry, propulsion systems, and other technologies, all adhering to a realistic simulation of Newtonian physics that emphasizes the importance of momentum and maneuverability in three-dimensional space combat.
