Broken Age
Broken Age: Tim Schafer's Return to Graphic Adventures
Tim Schafer, renowned for his contributions to the adventure genre, marks his return after sixteen years with Broken Age—a project that began with a groundbreaking Kickstarter campaign. Now, it unfolds in stunning 2D hand-painted visuals, complemented by an original orchestral soundtrack and a stellar voice cast including Elijah Wood, Jack Black, and Jennifer Hale.
Broken Age tells the timeless coming-of-age tale of two teenagers, Vella Tartine and Shay Volta, each trapped in bizarrely similar yet drastically different circumstances across distinct worlds. Players can seamlessly switch between Vella and Shay's stories, aiding them in seizing control of their lives amidst a series of unforeseen escapades.
Adventure games were once deemed a thing of the past, but Broken Age has reemerged from the depths, revitalizing the genre with its charm and wit, much like the climactic scene in Carrie—and yes, apologies for the spoiler.
Currently, Act 1 is available for players, with the concluding Act 2 slated to release as a free update later this year.
